About Jeremy Rosenholtz
Educator, Administrator, College Counsellor

Jeremy Rosenholtz is an American educator, administrator, and writer whose professional career spans more than three decades in independent schools across the United States. His work reflects a steady movement from classroom instruction to leadership roles, guided by long-term dedication to English education, student development, and college guidance. Rather than seeking rapid advancement, he has built a career marked by consistency, institutional trust, and sustained responsibility within the schools he has served.

Raised in Laramie, Wyoming, Jeremy developed an early interest in reading, writing, and academic exploration. His formative years encouraged curiosity and independent thinking, which later became central to both his teaching philosophy and his creative pursuits. The quiet discipline of those early experiences helped shape an approach to education rooted in patience, clarity, and respect for students at different stages of development.

His academic foundation was established at Amherst College, where Jeremy earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1991. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and received an Amherst College Merit Fellowship for graduate studies. During this period, he also competed in national-level debate, finishing 10th among American teams at the World Debate Championships in Scotland in 1990. This experience strengthened his ability to analyze complex ideas and communicate them with structure and precision.

Graduate study followed at Smith College, where Jeremy Rosenholtz earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in English in 1994. His coursework emphasized literature, pedagogy, curriculum development, developmental psychology, and learning differences. He later completed additional studies at Teachers College, Columbia University, and participated in the Klingenstein Summer Institute Fellowship at Deerfield Academy. These experiences prepared him for leadership roles by combining instructional expertise with administrative understanding.

Before fully committing to education, he worked for two years as an assistant editor at Penguin Books in New York. Managing book projects from acquisition through final publication sharpened his editorial skills and deepened his respect for the written word. He then transitioned into teaching at St. Andrew’s School in Florida, where he taught English and founded the Speech and Debate program. Under his guidance, the program earned national recognition within three years.

In 1997, Jeremy Rosenholtz joined the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York, where he served for seventeen years in roles including English teacher, college counselor, middle school team leader, dean, and trustee. During this time, he cofounded and directed the Fieldston Summer Service Institute, an academic and service program for underserved students in the Bronx that was later featured in The New York Times for its impact.

Following a teaching appointment at Phillips Academy in Andover, he served as Director of College Guidance at Newton Country Day School from 2015 to 2024, while also teaching AP English Literature and middle school English. Jeremy worked closely with students and families throughout the college admissions process and oversaw the school’s senior projects program.

Today, he lives outside Boston with his wife, two daughters, and a Golden Retriever. In 2024, Jeremy published his first novel, Your Biggest Fan, which received positive national reviews and recognition. He continues to write while remaining deeply committed to education and community life.
